ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION 1) Assisting in maintaining and repairing power boilers and associated auxiliary equipment; 2) Applying knowledge of electronics and electronic controls and devices to coordinate repairs; 3) Assisting in performing basic electric work; test and replace wires, switches and other basic electrical components; and 4) Assisting in recording documentation on equipment for a few utility systems.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Employee makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to reach places. Must stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts items that weigh over 50 pounds with assistance from other workers.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee performs work both indoors and outdoors under varying conditions of weather, noise and cleanliness. There is frequent exposure to uncomfortable heat conditions, strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns or infections. Occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones. Employee is sometimes required to make installations and repairs in the areas where bad smells are present. Employee uses and maintains prescribed safety/protective clothing and equipment such as the following: hard hat, safety glasses, shoes, belts, face shields, respirators, gas masks, ear protection devices, gloves, coveralls, and foul weather gear.
