Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Utility Systems Operator ~ performing of the following duties: monitor and make adjustments to valves, pumps, feeders, mixers, industrial and other control devices to prevent deficiencies or malfunctions in operations. Monitor pressure gauges and flow meters to maintain water levels in elevated storage tanks, clear well and sedimentation basin. Monitor and make adjustments to sewage system equipment without more than normal supervision. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- PHYSICAL EFFORT: Occasionally works in awkward and cramped positions when making minor repairs. Frequent standing, walking and climbing is required when making prescribed checks of all operating plants. Requires heavy lifting of over 50 pounds.
- WORKING CONDITIONS: Subject to abnormal heat when operating boiler plants. Subject to abnormal cold and bad weather when making prescribed checks in winter. Danger of boiler explosions, high noise levels, toxic fuel and chemical fumes, steam burns and scalding water. May work in dirty, inadequately lighted and ventilated spaces.
