Victim Advocate
Location: St. Joseph, Missouri
Join the team at the 131st Bomb Wing in fulfilling a critical and compassionate role as a Victim Advocate. This permanent position involves supporting victims of sexual assault through essential services, advocacy, and comprehensive support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate and confidential support to victims of sexual assault.
- Conduct initial risk assessments and develop tailored intervention plans.
- Coordinate with Sexual Assault Response Coordinators to manage cases independently.
- Assist victims in prioritizing actions for their short and long-term recovery.
- Maintain the confidentiality and rights of victims throughout the process.
- Conduct complex, trauma-informed assessments and offer skilled advocacy practices.
- Facilitate access to medical, legal, and supportive resources.
- Develop case management plans and engage in continuous victim support activities.
- Ensure the victim's interests and privacy are safeguarded.
- Stay updated with best practices through DoD-approved training and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in behavioral or social sciences, or related field.
- At least one year of experience in social science resources or related support roles at a GS-09 level or equivalent.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Must achieve DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification within six months.
- Maintain an active D-SAACP certification throughout employment.
- US Citizenship required with ability to obtain a Tier 3 background investigation.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
