In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. CHRA APPROVED Selective Placement Factors:
-- WG-10 grade level must successfully pass pre-employment weld testing to obtain SMAW 6G (6010 root 7018 fill and cap) weld certification and maintain certification thereafter.
-- WG-08 and WG-10 grade level must successfully pass pre-employment weld testing to obtain 3G/4G FCAW (unlimited thickness) weld certification and maintain certification thereafter.
--WG-05 grade level must successfully pass weld testing to obtain 3G/4G FCAW (unlimited thickness) weld certification within 6 months and maintain certification thereafter.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) WG-10: Ability to do the work of a Welder without more than normal supervision. Assisting in welding processes, planning, using templates, jigs, and blueprints. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) WG-08: Ability to do the work of a Welder without more than normal supervision. Assisting in welding processes, using templates, jigs, and blueprints. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) WG-05:Ability to do the work of a Welder with normal supervision. Assisting in welding processes, using templates, jigs, and blueprints. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
NOTE: Certification requirement at the WG-08 grade must be met within 12 months of being hired and for continued employment by successfully passing weld testing to obtain 6G (6010 root 7018 fill and cap) weld certification and maintain certification thereafter.
Incumbent may be non-competitively promoted pending skills and obtainment of 6G SMAW Welding certification and demonstrated ability to perform at the next higher/target level grade duties.
- PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work involves standing, walking, stooping, climbing and crawling. Work may be performed in an awkward or cramped position. Incumbent frequently handles, lifts, or carries parts or equipment that weighs up to 50pounds. Occasionally may lift and carry items weighing more.
- WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside subject to injury from lifting, operating machines and using miscellaneous tools. Is exposed to abnormal noise; inclement weather; burns from electric arc, gas torches and molten metal; changing temperatures; and fumes. Danger to the eyes is present from metal chips, electric arc, rust and dust. Is also subject to danger of explosive gases.
