NOTE: This is a Temporary Appointment (not-to-exceed 3 years). Temporary appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration.
Duties:
- Designs, writes, tests and validates a variety of custom software applications to support a wide range of data collection and analysis needs or research studies;
- Applies relational databases and software development to research experience within the framework of health services research.
- Provide standardized documentation of programs, evaluation and modification.
- Develops programming specifications
- Resolve unusual, novel and difficult problems that surface relating to the collection of research data

Qualifications

Experience:
- Incumbent develops programming specifications, designs, writes, tests and validates a variety of custom software applications to support a wide range of data collection and analysis needs or research studies
- Analyze informatics techniques, processes, and styles for improving the organizational effectiveness.
- Consultant and provide advice related to core infrastructure to support, maintain and improve informatics development.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is predominantly sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there will be some walking, standing, bending and carrying of items of moderate weight such as large binders, banker style file boxes, meeting materials, papers, books or small parts. Hand and eye coordination for delicate testing procedures may be the only special physical demand required to perform the work.

Education
Basic Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
Evaluation of Education:
Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.
NOTE: All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. (Copies of transcripts are required at the time of application to determine IOR has been met)
