About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at McAlester, OK. This position serves as a Water Treatment Plant Operator applying standard plant operating procedures.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Water Treatment Plant Operator ~ without more than normal supervision. Duties such as operate water pumping and water treating equipment used in the process of purifying water for personal consumption and industrial purposes; manually regulate valves to control flow of raw water from entities such as lakes through a water treatment plant; collect and weigh water samples to insure maintaining the correct pH in the dosed water. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort: Water plant operators do considerable walking, standing on concrete floors, and climbing stairways and ladders. Light to moderate physical effort is necessary to turn valves and controls. They frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds) unassisted and occasionally lift and carry heavier items with assistance of other workers or with lifting devices.
- Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside; subject to damp, odorous, and varied weather conditions for substantial amount of time; possible infection, asphyxiation, and injury from contact with sewage, and sewage gases and fumes, plant equipment and/or more severe injuries from falls into open tanks. Is exposed to chlorine gas and dusts of lime and alum which may call for protective clothing.
