There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Welding Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Minimum Experience Requirement: I have the ability to perform common Welding Worker duties. I can set up various welding equipment to perform welds in flat, horizontal and vertical positions on mild steel; Perform overhead welding and brazing, bead welding, tack welding, flame cutting structural steel and other metals to prescribe dimensions; Apply manual welding processes to weld parts made of commonly used metals. Plan and lay out the work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
- Work requires standing, walking, stooping, bending, climbing and crawling. Works in cramped and awkward positions. Handles objects weighing up to and sometimes greater than 50 lbs. in setting up and performing work.
- Works indoors and outdoors, both in shop and TDY sites in varied weather. Work is usually performed on concrete floors or in equipment being repaired. Work areas may be dirty, noisy and smoky. Is exposed to a variety of potentially hazardous situations that are considered in evaluation of the job. Subject to discomfort from wearing protective equipment.
