However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Welding Worker (Direct Hiring Authority) ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which include setting up and operating various electric resistance welding machines; using one or more manual welding processes; and welding various metals to meet specifications. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort: The work requires standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, crawling and sometimes working in cramped and awkward positions. The work involves regular lifting, carrying and/or holding objects weighing from 20 to 50 pounds; and occasionally lifting objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds to set up work and equipment needed to complete tasks.
- Working Conditions: Welding and related work may be performed indoors or outdoors, sometimes in bad weather, in areas which are noisy, dirty or smoky. Work involves exposure to grease, fumes, heat, flying sparks or glare and may include exposure to infrared and/or ultraviolet radiation; as well as hazards from electric shock, burns, cuts, eye and other injuries. There is discomfort from wearing protective equipment such as goggles welding helmets, face shields, aprons, gloves or other protective clothing or equipment.
