Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Wood Worker (Fork Lift Operator) without more than normal supervision which includes: (1) Set up and operating tools and equipment such as cut-off saws, band saws, drill press and jointer; (2) Determining the type and extent of construction or repair necessary to build, modify and/or restore wooden containers; and (3) Skill in operating a fork lift to load and unload materials/items. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending and stooping. In addition, the work requires lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds with assistance of other workers of lifting devices.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather. Inside work areas can range from well lit, climatically controlled to poorly illuminated work areas. Exposed to noise and dust from power saws, hammers, nailing machines, and related equipment. Subject to bruises, cuts, and other injuries from using hand and power tools. Safety equipment and protective devices are used to minimize hazards.
