This position is open only to current and former DoD NAF Employees and current, eligible DoD Appropriated Fund Employees. Other candidates will not receive consideration.

Duties

Performs work that involves planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operating, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems, within a virtualized IT environment. Analyzes all IT systems, using standard principles, theories, concepts and methods for systems administration, including cloud-hosted and on-premises. Imploements security plans, policies, and preventitive mainteneance schedules. Utilizes diagnostic tools and troublshooting techniques to verify operability, optimize the functionality of networks and systems. Carries out routine maintenance, upgrade, and support of hardware, operating sytems, and software applications. Provides ongoing optimization and problem soliving support to mnimize interruptions to carry out critical business activities. Managers user rights for access to stystems and equipment. Interprets and applies best practices IAW inforamtion secutirty and information assurance policy, principles, and practices. Prepares and presents reports and briefings to technical staff and mangement.

  • Incumbent must become DoD 8570.01 Information Assurance Management Level 2, baseline certification compliant within six months of employment. Please refer to the "Education" section of the vacancy for additional information.
  • A waiver of the Information Assurance Certification six-month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive IA certification may result in removal from this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE CLEARLY VERIFIABLE IN YOUR RESUME. GOVERNMENT POSITIONS MUST INCLUDE PAY PLAN, SERIES, GRADE, TO AND FROM DATES, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCY/DEPARTMENT. Must include at least one year of experience performing duties at a level which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform successfully in the position.

Specialized IT experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training or IT certification which demonstrates skill in applying:
Principles and methods for integrating information systems solution into existing architecture; Performance tuning tools and techniques; System diagnostic tool and fault identification techniques and remediation; Windows Server IT Systems Administration and engineering; and IT security expertise in applying principles, technical implementations, and documentation.
OR
Completion of a master's degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree in computer science/engineering, information systems management, or technology management or master's degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours as indicated above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.

In addition, candidates must demonstrate IT -related experience which addresses the following five copmpetencies:
1. Attention to detail - Such as implementing quality control procedures and conducting compliance
reviews.
2. Customer service - Such as providing assistance to both internal and external customers;
assessing customers' needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
3. Verbal communication - Such as conducting formal presentations or training to audiences at varying
levels of hierarchy and technical expertise.
4. Demonstrated problem-solving skills - Such as identifying the strengths and weaknesses of
alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
