Summary

Serve as a Non-medical Clinical Counselor within Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC), Fleet and Family Readiness Department (N9), Family Readiness Division (N91), Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP). This position is to provide nonmedical clinical counseling to individuals, couples, families, and groups on family dynamics, parent-child interaction, adjustment to commonly occurring personal and family issues/circumstances, adjustment to military life, and psycho-educational programs.

Your application will be screened for the following minimum qualifications:

  • Must be Tier II qualified in accordance with SECNAVINST 1754.7A requirements. This includes:
    • Possession of a current, valid, unrestricted license or certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner in the fields of Social Work, Psychology or Marriage and Family Therapy, or Licensed Professional Counselor/Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
    • Possession of a masters or doctoral degree in one of the following disciplines:
      • Marriage and Family Therapy from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) or an equivalent degree.
      • Social Work from a school accredited by Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) or an equivalent degree.
      • Counseling and Related Education Program (CACREP) or an equivalent degree.
      • Psychology from a doctoral program approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) or an equivalent degree.
    • Have engaged in 2 years (includes at least 2,000 hours), of full-time, post-masters supervised clinical experience.
Applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be further evaluated for:
  • Years of experience applying various counseling approaches e.g. behavior modification, client-centered, rational-emotive, family systems, brief solution-focused, and reality therapies
  • Years of experience responding to allegations of family violence, assessing safety concerns, and providing needed services
  • Years of experience responding to allegations of sexual assault
  • Experience with preparing and presenting briefs, presentations, and providing training
  • Years of experience with clinical documentation using an electronic records system, such as the Navy Fleet and Family Support Management Information System (FFSMIS)
  • Years of experience conducting clinical interviews and providing responses to high risk clients, including suicidal and homicidal risks, substance abuse issues, and crisis response situations
