Job Description (Please follow all instructions carefully)

Summary

This position is assigned to Non appropriated (NAF); Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Naval Air Station Fallon. Incumbent serves as a Maintenace worker performing a variety of maintenace, repair, and operational duties.

Duties

Duties to include but are not limited to:

*Performs work in two or more trade practices associated with occupations such as plumbing, carpentry, and painting

*Plumbing: Makes plumbing repairs that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, resealing, replacing defective parts or units of utility, supply, and disposal systems, such as dirty traps, sections of broken tile, damaged or broken pipes, leaky faucets, and stopped up drains. Installs water heaters, garbage disposal units, faucets and sinks.

*Carpentry: Measures, cuts, and constructs or repairs wood or wood substitute items such as scaffolds, staging parts, panels, bins, pallets, concrete forms, dry walls, sheathing, and rock decking.

*Painting: Performs standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling and spraying, by the use of coating materials that are prepared according to specific directions, and by the application of coding techniques that ensure surfaces are fully coded, protected, and free from drips and runs.

*Assists staff members by asking questions to determine, verify, and solve problems; resolves problems quickly; and alerts supervisor or proper point of contact for assistance when issues arrive. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher - level supervisor, or proper point of contact for helping problems arise.

*Observes required safety, sanitation and hazardous waste disposal rules and regulations.

* Adheres to Safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishap to the immediate supervisor.

*Drives motor vehicles to transport tools and materials to and from worksite using government owned vehicles.

*Performs other duties as required.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation.
  • Work may require sitting, walking, long periods of standing, bending and lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 pounds without assistance and occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance.

Qualifications

*Knowledge in the applicable combination of trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, and/or painting)sufficient to perform the duties of the position.

*Knowledge of safe work practices including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment, use of hazardous materials and chemicals, fall protection standards, and all related OSHA safety standards.

*Skill and basic math and reading

*Ability to provide customer service with a high-level of professionalism.

*Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
