USAG Benelux is hiring TERM NTE 30 September 2024 Postal Services Assistants in several locations: SHAPE/Chievres (BE), Brussels (BE), Brunssum (NL) and Dulmen, Germany.

Duties
- You will serve as a Postal Operations Assistant in postal facilities of IMCOM-Europe located at SHAPE or Brussels, Belgium, Brunssum, The Netherlands or Dulmen, Germany. As such, you will:
- - Perform manual and automated processing of incoming and outgoing mail.
- - Operate various customer-service windows which involve postal finance, accountable mail, official mail and in/out processing of package delivery.
- - Operate a step side van or similar vehicle incidental to postal operations duties.
Conditions of Employment
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

- These positions require the incumbent to complete the Postal Service Center (PSC) training module with-in six (6) months of employment.
- These positions require working shifts, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed
- These positions require being able to obtain/maintain a military motor vehicle operator's license.
- These positions require completing the Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) handling and processing training prior to handling the mail.
- These positions require that the incumbent must successfully complete a pre-placement medical examination/physical due to the physical requirements of the position.
- Incumbents will not be granted annual leave during the period of 15 November to 15 January, except in emergency situations.
- Employee is held accountable for monetary imbalances when performing postal finance duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify at the GS-05 level, you need to demonstrate one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience in using automated systems and assisting customers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
To qualify at the GS-06 level, you need to demonstrate one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience in performing manual and automated processing of incoming and outgoing mail, operating various customer service windows handling Postal Finance, Mail, Official Mail, and Package Delivery, and driving a step side van or similar vehicle involved in postal operations duties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement: At the GS-6 level, applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). There is no time in grade requirement for the GS-05 level.
Education
Substitution of Education at the GS-05 level: four (4) full academic years of undergraduate level education beyond high school which equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position.
Substitution of Education at the GS-06 level : Graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Equivalent combination of Experience and Education is qualifying for both levels.
Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
