The FMWRC mission is to create and maintain "FIRST CHOICE" MWR products and services for America's Army, essential to a ready, self-reliant force.
This announcement is being used to fill multiple vacancies with the JBLM MWR Sports, Fitness, and Aquatics Program.
Clarification from the agency
U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
Duties
- In a patron usage facility, circulates among patrons to assure service is satisfactory; receives and resolves customer complaints; provides information and general instructions on the use of equipment, facilities and machinery.
- Required to perform Lifeguard duties, responsible for safeguarding the lives of persons using the swimming pool. Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Ensures that safety rules are followed.
- Assists in maintaining pool and area clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Maintains daily logs and records as required.
- Plans, conducts, publicize and arrange support for special events, social activities, tournaments and related functions. May provide work guidance to other staff.
- Assists patrons in use of the facility by checking out equipment, providing safety instruction, demonstrating new equipment, teaching classes, etc.
Conditions of Employment
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
- Incumbent may also required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
- Incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
- Lifeguard certification required within 30 days of hire. Failure to obtain lifeguard certification within 30 days of hire may result in separation.
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 45 lbs.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical may be required.
- Must be willing to work a schedule that includes working nights, weekends, and possible holidays.
Qualifications
1. Work experience related to the duties described above that included customer service, operation and maintenance of sports facilities and fitness equipment.
2. Possess the following certificates:
- Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- First Aid Certification
(Certificates issue by American Red Cross, Ellis & Associates, Star Guard or other nationally recognized agencies are acceptable)For facilities that use Automated External Defibrillator "AED's" and Oxygen Administration "O2 bottles" the following is required:
- American Red Cross "Automated External Defibrillator" (AED) certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates AED certification.
- American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration" certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates Oxygen Administration certification.
NOTE: The above minimum qualifications must be described within the duties of previous work experience listed on the applicant's resume and assessment/questionnaire. A copy of all supporting documents must be submitted at the time of application.
