Duties

  • You will deliver legal services and will advise human resources specialists on preventative law matters, including pre- and post-litigation, to include advising on disciplinary actions and employee performance.
  • You will deliver legal services to include administrative investigations, requests for reasonable accommodation, personnel laws, human resources policy matters, and security matters.
  • You will be advising on adverse, performance, and other personnel actions; advising on labor-management relations; the application of personnel, labor-management relations, civilian personnel law, and antidiscrimination laws.
  • You will be serving as agency representative in administrative forums such as the Merit Systems Protection Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Federal Labor Relations Authority.
  • You will provide litigation support to the Department of Justice in representing the Department of the Navy in Federal Courts.

  • Must have graduated from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association and have at least three and one-half years of recent and relevant experience in Labor and Employment Law/Civilian Personnel Law.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, and be admitted to practice before a state or federal court.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least three and one-half years of professional, relevant legal experience working as an attorney in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: advising on adverse, performance, and other civillian personnel actions; advising on labor-management relations; the application of personnel, labor-management relations, and antidiscrimination laws.
