Duties
What to Expect - Assists automotive mechanics in performance of maintenance and repair on all combustion powered vehicles.
- Responsible for receiving, transferring, storing, inventorying, identifying and issuing the full range of available items used by personnel and patrons.
- Helps with repairs that can be accomplished by removing, replacing, adjusting, or cleaning defective parts or components such as fouled spark plugs, worn brakeshoes, water pumps, engine gaskets belts and hoses, etc.
- Performs routine maintenance of vehicles such as oil changes, air filter replacement, battery installation, and tire rotation and mounting.
- Work requires standing, stooping, bending, stretching, crawling under vehicles, and working in tight spaces or tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.
- Work is performed both inside and outside to weather and temperature extremes.
- Continually exposed to dirt, drafts, high noise, fumes, vibrations, dust, grease, and to the potential for burns, chemical irritations, bruises, cuts, strains, and jolts from equipment operations in performing tasks.
- Works with automotive fluids that may cause chemical irritations.
- Is required to follow prescribed safety procedures and may be required to use safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, and respirators.
- Performs other related duties as required.

What are we looking for? - A basic knowledge of automotive repair such as could be gained at the high school or trade school level or gained from personal experience.
- Ability to use standard and metric automotive hand and powered tools.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
