Job Summary:

The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers, and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 700 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.

This paid internship* is in the House Recording Studio Directorate (HRS), Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives. The purpose of the House Recording Studio is to provide live broadcast coverage of House proceedings, livestream coverage of Committee hearings, and full-service television and radio studios to Members of Congress. This position will be an administrative position that will assist with inventory management, file management, and general office duties. This intern will have the opportunity to view the inner workings of the U.S. House of Representatives and learn about its operations.

** The CAO standard business hours are 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per- week internship that will require onsite attendance in Washington, D.C.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

This Internship will provide an immersive experience in the various administrative and logistical areas of the House Recording Studio including Inventory Management, File Management, and House Services through job shadowing and participation in special projects to include but not limited to (1) asset management support (2) business-focused project on editing desktop operating procedures (3) reconciliation and review of equipment and phone inventories and (4) administrative or operational support on various projects and activities. Performs other official duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

·         Currently in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, or related discipline.

·         Knowledge of and proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word).

·         Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

·         Ability to multi-task, work independently, and with a team as required.

·         Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

·         Ability to establish effective working relationships with House staff.

·         Ideal candidate will be a results-oriented team player possessing an interest in public service.
