Duties
The Congressional Research Service (CRS), American Law Division (ALD), seeks an Administrative Support Assistant to serve as a central resource person for implementing and maintaining office control systems, as the principal office assistant performing various administrative and clerical duties in support of ALD. The incumbent maintains a key role in the use of CRS’s automated work assignment and tracking system (Minerva), transmits a variety of requests to managers, and edits as necessary, finished administrative documents for responsiveness and completeness. The incumbent integrates several types of software to generate specific working documents, and works closely with managers and staff on the Gov Time & Attendance system. Experience with the development, implementation, and documentation of new office processes, policies, and procedures to aid in improving organization effectiveness and efficiency will be beneficial.

Administrative Support Assistant duties include:
Acts as a central resource person for implementing and maintaining office control systems, such as those for the location, arrangement, access to, and use of division files, and for maintenance, transfer, and disposition of records. Has responsibility for a tracking system to maintain and secure division passes (such as LC stack passes) and keys.
Facilitates CRS-wide communication by assuring that staff at all levels are fully informed on internal and LC-wide procedures. Initiates development of new or revised administrative policies and procedures necessary for efficient administrative functioning of the division, working with the supervisor.
Proofs and edits, as necessary, finished administrative documents for responsiveness and completeness. Checks accuracy of all references and citations and reviews attachments for relevance and completeness.
Integrates several types of software, such as spreadsheet, database, word processing, desktop publishing, and graphics applications, to generate specific administrative working documents and forms. Works closely with managers and staff on the Gov Time and Attendance system, and is the central point of contact.
