Role Overview
As an Advanced Practice Nurse with the Indian Health Service (IHS), you'll join a dynamic team dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare. Your role will be crucial in enhancing the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indian and Alaska Native people. You'll work collaboratively with other professionals to deliver patient-driven care and improve healthcare access.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze patient histories, symptoms, and diagnostic information to develop diagnoses.
- Create treatment plans based on scientific rationale and professional practice guidelines.
- Prescribe medications and educate patients considering their individual circumstances.
Positions are generally available in outpatient settings with specializations in areas such as Family Medicine, Anesthesia, Midwifery, Psychiatry, Emergency, Pediatric, and Women’s Health.
Qualifications
- Graduate or higher-level degree in nursing from an accredited program.
- Passed the National Council Licensure Examination and have a current, active, full, and unrestricted nursing license.
- Specialty license in required clinical area (if applicable).
- For higher grade levels, specific years of professional advanced practice nursing experience may be required.
