About the Office
The mission of the National Security Division (NSD) is to coordinate the Department of Justice's (DOJ) efforts in carrying out its core mission of combating terrorism and protecting national security, including protecting our national assets from state-sponsored threats to the private sector. NSD is responsible for supervising the enforcement of all federal criminal laws related to counterterrorism and counterespionage, except those specifically assigned to other divisions. NSD also serves as DOJ's liaison to the United States Intelligence Community (USIC) and represents the government and the USIC before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. NSD advises the Attorney General regarding all matters of national security policy.

Job Description
The National Security Division is seeking an experienced attorney to serve in the General Counsel's Office. The attorney will be the principal NSD attorney responsible for ethics and professional responsibility matters, serving as NSD's Deputy Designated Agency Ethics Official working in collaboration with the Departmental Ethics Office and similar officers for other DOJ Divisions. Duties are expected to include independently performing legal analysis and composing memoranda or other documents on Federal ethics issues; providing legal advice and trainings to senior officials, managers, and employees on Federal ethics statutes and regulations; administering Federal financial disclosure requirements, including the use of Integrity or FDOnline; training Federal employees on the Standards of Conduct, ethics requirements, or related issues; preparing waivers under 18 USC § 208 and authorizations under 5 CFR § 2635.502; advising on issues relating to the Hatch Act and the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act including 5 C.F.R. § 3801 and 28 C.F.R. § 45; advising on E.O. 13989 ethics pledges; and advising current and former employees on ethics matters generally relating to 18 USC § 200s and 5 C.F.R. Part 2635 and related subjects.
The attorney may also be expected to provide strategic legal analysis and guidance to the General Counsel on existing laws and regulations relating to various national security-related program areas involving NSD matters, coordinate with relevant NSD components, and work with, and respond to inquiries from, other agencies.
Under the NSD Work-Life Program Directive, NSD employees may be eligible for telework and/or flexible work schedules subject to supervisor approval and consistent with the needs of the office and individual roles and responsibilities.
