Duties
The Audiovisual Production Specialist works with team members to set standards for exhibits media development that ensure that the Museum’s media pieces are appropriate, educational, engaging, maintainable and upgradable.
In this position, you will:

Lead the internal media team to set standards for exhibits media development that ensure the Museum’s media pieces are appropriate, educational, engaging, maintainable, and upgradable.

Work with team to plan and create Exhibit Media designs for multimedia content by developing timelines, keeping within budgets, while highlighting key messages and themes for each art piece.

Oversee the installation of audiovisual media elements, coordinating with internal staff, external vendors, and partner organizations to establish timelines, align deliverables, and manage project budgets.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position.
Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.
OR
Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work directly connected with the production aspects of the field(s) of the position to be filled.
In addition to the basic qualification requirement above:
Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as experience in managing the technical setup and production of audio-visual and time-based media installations for museum exhibitions, including equipment installation, media integration, system testing, content playback, troubleshooting, and coordination with exhibition designers, curators, and production teams to support the interpretation of historical and cultural artifacts.

Knowledge of media design techniques, best practices and most recent advancements in audio and video technology and worldwide viewing habits and preferences.

Knowledge of design processes, methodologies, equipment, and related requirements sufficient to plan media pieces through conceptualizing, designing, and producing multimedia content—such as video, audio, interactive displays, and digital experiences—that interpret and communicate an exhibit’s themes, narratives, and educational goals.

Skill in the technical implementation and operation of audiovisual for exhibit design with the ability to analyze complex subject matter and use diplomacy and persuasion to secure stakeholder support for concepts and final deliverables.
Applicants who meet or exceed minimum qualifications will be assigned to one of three category groups based on job-related criteria:
- Best Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and excels in most of the job-related competencies above.
- Better Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and satisfies most of the job-related competencies above.
- Good Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements but does not satisfy most of the job-related competencies above to a substantive degree.
This category rating process does not add veterans' preference points or apply the "rule of three" but protects the rights of veterans by placing them ahead of non-preference eligibles within each category. A selecting official may make selections from the highest quality category (Best Category) provided no preference eligible in that category is passed over to select a non-preference eligible in that category unless the requirements of 5 U.S.C. 3317(b) or 3318(b) are satisfied.
