Duties

Assists supervisor by leading and directing NA-04 bartender subordinates, answering questions, passing on instructions, resolving problems which arise, training new employees, and ensuring the smooth operation of the facility. Mixes and serves premixed alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages from a full-service bar. Serves liquor, soda, beer, and wine. Prepares alcoholic drinks by selecting proper premix and garnish. Prepares garnishes for mixed drinks. Receives payment or charges to patrons¿ account. Makes change and is accountable for cash fund. Assists in taking inventory and maintaining records. Keeps bar area clean and keeps area always stocked properly. Washes bar equipment, glassware, and utensils. May perform other sanitation duties within assigned work area as required.


Maintains rotation of food and beverage to prevent spoilage. Responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of all food and beverage preparation, serving and storage areas. Ensures that the bar and dining areas are clean and well maintained. Maintains temperature charts on all refrigerated storage spaces and makes appropriate entries during shift. Conducts daily inventory of all food and beverage items and supplies. Prepares and submits requisitions for replacement of items as required, such as food items, supplies, and repairs. Ensures that adequate supplies are on hand for the following shift for next days¿ operation. May assist management in purchasing and menu pricing decisions by performing yield tests for selected foods and beverages, in ordering items in accordance with daily and weekly menu requirements and preparing production worksheets from computerized recipe files.


Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles, and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.


Inspects and secures facility at the end of the shift. May plan and schedule daily service menus for activities and events. May assist in preparing work schedules, assigning work, and conducting training. May provide recommendations for employee performance appraisals, promotions, and disciplinary actions. Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies, equipment, and property in accordance with policies and procedures. Responsible for the issue, receipt, safekeeping, deposit, and accountability of funds.


Relays instructions from supervisor. Gets work started. Sets work pace. Demonstrates work methods, and provides work-related guidance. Ensures worksite materials and tools are available to complete work. Reports workplace injuries immediately to the immediate or higher level supervisor, and to the Human Resources office in the absence of the immediate supervisor.


Checks with supervisor on problems. Checks on work and meets productivity goals. Ensures employees follow security, safety and housekeeping rules. Conducts on-the-job training and
instructions. Performs supervisory duties in an emergency, or short-term and nonrecurring basis.


Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury,
occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.


Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.


Performs other related duties as assigned.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: One year bartending experience required. Thorough knowledge of the full range of bar operation and beverage preparation principles, including the techniques and procedures necessary to develop new or recurrent recipes. Skill in preparing beverages according to name request from guests. Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed. Familiarity with cash handling procedures and sales operation. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to lead, organize and coordinate work of lower graded employees. Knowledge of the composition of all food and beverage items on the menu and their proper serving temperatures. Knowledge of simple math
calculations to tabulate checks.


RESPONSIBILITY: Works under direction of supervisor who establishes daily work assignments and provides general instructions either orally or in writing. Incumbent is responsible for analyzing and correcting production problems independently and coordinating the process for tasks assigned directly to them. Work is subject to spot checks by supervisor for compliance with quality food and beverage standards, timeliness, and established operating procedures. Held responsible for complying with standard methods and procedures such as conduct, etiquette,
dress code, serving techniques, and complete familiarity with the menu and any subsequent day to day changes.


PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires the use of both arms, hands, and legs, and involves prolonged standing, walking, reaching, and light lifting. Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs
independently and objects over 45 lbs. with assistance. Uses dolly to transport beer kegs.


WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside with adequate lighting, heat and ventilation and on occasion, works outside in various temperatures/climates. Works nights and weekends. Performs work at various Mainside bars/venues. Bartenders are exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and slippery floors when in the bar area.
