Job Summary:
The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers, and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 800 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.
This paid internship* is located in the IT Customer Solutions Department, House Information Resources (HIR), Office the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives (House). HIR provides a wide range of technology services and support for the House. HIR employs several hundred people with a variety of skills including coding, design, telecommunications, emergency response, and online security.
CAO-HIR is excited to provide a one-of-a-kind learning experience for an enthusiastic future technology specialist. This internship will offer the ability to (1) work on everything from computer hardware and software to mobile devices, and (2) contribute to meaningful and rewarding support programs in service of the House. In this challenging role, you’ll collaborate with a diverse and passionate team of talented technology staff and gain meaningful IT experience on prestigious Capitol Hill. This position does not have day-to-day supervisory/managerial responsibilities.
* paid at an annual rate of $36,834 not to exceed 120 days
** The CAO standard business hours are 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week internship that will require onsite attendance in Washington, D.C.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist with initiatives that enhance customer experience, service delivery, knowledge management, and operational effectiveness.
- Support the HIR Congressional Transition Team with providing technical and administrative support with Departing, Returning and New Member activities.
- Conduct research, gather information, and analyze data to support process improvement efforts, service enhancements, and innovation initiatives.
- Collaborate with technology partners and other House Information Resources stakeholder to gain exposure to technology operations and contribute to organizational projects.
- Support the development of reports, presentations, and recommendations related to assigned projects.
- Performs other official duties and special projects as assigned.
