Duties

As Chief of Staff - Temporary Promotion NTE 1-Year, you will perform the following duties:

  • Advise top agency managers in refining missions, developing key result areas, and measure vital signs of programs;
  • Prepare and contribute to reports and other presentations on program planning and evaluation, and design and conduct a wide variety of comprehensive studies and detailed analyses of complex functions and processes related to long-range planning;
  • Formulate and recommend plans to improve program policies, practices, methods, and organizational structure, and adjust progress schedules and priorities to meet new requirements or unforeseen situations;
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on the most challenging problems facing the agency on a national or international scope, assisting and carrying out analytical studies involving the planning, development, and implementation of major agency programs of national scope and impact relating to program operations; and
  • Represent the Director and serve as a close advisor on major issues and problems affecting operational policies and program, collaborating with agency leaders, congressional officials, state executives, legislative leaders, and executives of comparable private sector organizations

You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the 14 grade level or equivalent performing the following duties:

  • Developing strategic plans that support mission goals, objectives and implementation strategies;
  • Provide analysis and advice on agency-wide programs or issues with organizational or national impact;
  • Preparing investigative reports, studies or presentation that evaluate programs and performance;
  • Recommending and implementing improvements to agency policies, practices, or management processes; and
