Job Overview
Join the Program Management Office (PMO) with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a Computer Science Student Intern. Assist in transforming and modernizing the National Airspace System (NAS) through hands-on learning in program and acquisition management, with an emphasis on engineering, software maintenance, and computer science techniques.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in routine and complex computer science tasks under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Assist in testing and evaluating computer systems for the NAS.
Contribute to projects by developing software systems and applying theoretical knowledge, such as operating system theory and computer communications.
Gather and document functional and security requirements.
Identify and report system bugs and offer innovative solutions.
Coordinate and communicate with managers and team leaders to efficiently prioritize and complete assignments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, or related field with 30 semester hours in computer science, mathematics, or statistics.
You must have completed one full academic year post-high school.
Transcripts required to verify educational qualifications.
Program Features
Internships may last up to 120 days post-graduation, with potential for permanent employment.
Participants may need to sign a Gateways Internship Agreement outlining internship expectations.
