USCP Inspectors who meet the following qualifications are eligible to apply.
1. Candidates must not have been in a non-duty status for more than 30
consecutive days in the past 12 months prior to the closing date of this
announcement, unless otherwise authorized by law (e.g., performance of duty
injury, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), or Uniformed Services Employment
and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA)).
2. Candidates must not have any Department documentation that specifically
limits their eligibility to participate in the promotional process by the close
of the vacancy announcement.
To receive consideration for this position, you must attach your resume, the
Assessment Questionnaire, and the narrative responses addressing the Executive
Core Qualifications (ECQs) and the Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs)

narrative responses should be no more than two pages per question, for a total

Mandatory Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs): All applicants must submit a
written narrative in response to the following ECQs. Each ECQ should contain at
least two examples describing your significant experiences, accomplishments,

ECQ is the ability to provide an inclusive workplace that fosters the

constructive resolution of conflicts.
3. Results Driven: This core qualification involves the ability to meet
organizational goals and customer expectations. Inherent to this ECQ is the
ability to make decisions that produce high-quality results by applying
technical knowledge, analyzing problems, and calculating risks.
4. Business Acumen: This core qualification involves the ability to manage
human, financial, and information resources strategically.
5. Building Coalitions: This core qualification involves the ability to build
coalitions internally and with other federal agencies, state and local
governments, nonprofit and private sector organizations, foreign governments,
or international organizations to achieve common goals.
Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs): All applicants must submit a written
narrative response to the following MTQs. Please give examples and explain how
often you used your skills, the complexity of the knowledge possessed, the
level of people you interacted with, the sensitivity of the issues you handled,
etc. Responses to the MTQs must not exceed four pages.
1. Describe your experience in successfully leading, managing and directing a
technical or operational organization with a varied and complex mission.
Include experience in organizational administration, oversight of subordinate
programs and leaders, and coordination and interaction of activities with a
wide variety of partners and stakeholders.
2. Describe your experience in evaluating and implementing organizational law
enforcement policies and programs that improved the operations of your command
or unit.
