This is a U.S. Public Health Service position within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), ICE Health Service Corps (IHSC), Office of the Chief of Staff (OCoS), IHSC Office of Policy (IOP). This is a supervisory position.
The incumbent serves within the IHSC Office of Policy as a policy subject matter expert and reports directly to the Chief, IOP. The primary purpose of the Deputy Chief, IOP, is to provide day-to-day direct support of the Chief, IOP, provide guidance to health policy administrators, policy analysts, and coordinate policy initiatives with internal and external stakeholders to ensure IOP alignment with agency priorities.
In Fiscal Year (FY) 2024, the ICE Health Service Corps (IHSC) administered and managed a health care system that provided direct care to over 138,000 ailens housed in 18 facilities throughout the nation, to include medical, dental, mental health care, and public health services. Oversaw health care for over 186,900 ailens housed in 129 non-IHSC-staffed facilities, totaling over 45,500 beds.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:
The incumbent reports to the Chief, IOP.
The officer uses judgment in interpreting guidelines such as laws, regulations, PHS policies, and agency policies to adapt work direction for application to specific cases. The officer works within the scope of the Deputy Chief, IOP, role, keeps the supervisor informed of the status on work projects, and consults with the supervisor on any significant problems encountered.
