Job Description (Please follow all instructions carefully)

Summary

The Drug Analysis Technician performs chemical analysis for detection of controlled substances; calibrates and maintains urinalysis testing equipment, follows chain of custody; enters and manages date for several districts in the Federal Judiciary.

Duties

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Assist with the maintenance of the district's urinalysis equipment. Perform regular maintenance procedures on software.
  • Notify officers of test results via email daily.
  • Maintain the security of the laboratory by limiting access and properly storing specimens.
  • Perform chemical analysis for detection of controlled substances.
  • Create and modify random testing schedule.
  • Enter and manage data on computer for reporting results.
  • Perform initial confirmation procedures on positive specimens and send positive specimens to national contract laboratory for confirmation as required.
  • Calibrate testing equipment.
  • Coordinate transfer of specimens through the Chain of Custody procedure and provide confirmation results to officers.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding test results and Chain of Custody procedures.
  • Prepare statistical reports on urinalysis program including demographics on client population.
  • Conduct training with drug aftercare vendors and officer staff on proper Chain of Custody procedures and drug use identification.
  • Keep current on technological developments in the drug testing process. Assist with the assessment of basic supply needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or eligible to work in the United States.
  • Applicants must undergo and clear an NCIC check, background investigation, financial and fingerprint checks.
  • Applicants must not use illegal drugs or abuse alcohol or prescription drugs.
  • Applicants must be able to travel to divisional offices in New Mexico for periodic work assignments as required.
  • Applicants must maintain confidentiality and practice a good work ethic; possess good multi-tasking management skills; have very strong interpersonal/verbal and written communication skills; be a team player; and be flexible in a changing environment.

Qualifications

Required:
High School diploma or equivalent plus two years progressively responsible general experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of a Drug Analysis Technician in a clinical laboratory setting.

Education above the high school level may be substituted for the required general experience on the basis of one academic year (30 semester or 45 quarter hours) to equal one-year general experience.

Financial checks must be in good standing devoid of any late payments which includes 30-day late payments.
