Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number T5763000 and is part of the CO 140th MXS, National Guard.
The purpose of the position is to manage and execute the duties of the Air Force Repair Enhancement Program (AFREP).
Duties
Certifies assigned systems and sub-systems to ensure compliance with USAF and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) established standards and safety requirements. Determines when equipment malfunctions warrant shutdown of various systems. Provides technical guidance, training, and assistance to other technicians and conducts on-the-job (OJT) training to apprentices in all phases of work. Conducts and documents OJT in all phases of equipment maintenance. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Performs other duties as assigned.

- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

- Required to gain soldering certification to miniature, micro-miniature (2M) standard of electronic re-work within 24 months.

Must have experience or knowledge in each of the following:
1. Developing and recommending changes in procedures and technical instructions to management on substantive functions and practices in a high level air traffic location.
2. Developing innovative methods, approaches, or procedures to meet emergency situations in an environment where rapid equipment restoration is always paramount to ensure continuous operation where required.
3. Identifying, evaluating, and recommending appropriate solutions to resolve complex interrelated problems and issues.
4. Basic knowledge and understanding of Air Force Repair Enhancement Program (AFREP).
5. Performing, training and/or supervising assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations.
6. Experience in the maintenance, repair, and modification of integrated multi-complex systems.
7. Redirecting individual workers and resources to accomplish work.
8. Planning current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommending projected work.
9. Implementing corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems.
10. Experience involving advising and counseling workers on how to improve their performance through explanations and demonstrations of work techniques.
