About the Position: This position is located at the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) serving as an Electrician.
This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 3 years position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.
Duties
- Conduct tests and studies related to new or changed features in electrical systems or equipment
- Load and test new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment (including motors, lighting, heating, and emergency power systems.)
- Install, trouble-shoot, repair, maintain, rebuild, modify, and make performance tests on a variety of electrical equipment and controls such as Lightning Protection Systems.
- Diagnose, test, and align various electronic assemblies, subassemblies, and overall function of systems.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain lighting and wiring systems, and check for proper operation of electrical equipment.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The position is designated Special Sensitive requiring the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).
- The position is subject to Random Drug Testing IAW AR 600-85 and Department of Defense Directive 2010.9.
- The incumbent of this position is subject to on-call at all times to effect needed repairs or to render assistance in emergency situations.
- The incumbent occasionally works in adverse weather conditions and is required to wear personal protective apparel as required by safety regulations.
- Safety boots, safety glasses, and ear plugs are required.
- May require subject to work in confined spaces.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain within six months after job appointment, a National, State, and/or Local Certification or License such as a Master or Journeyman Electrician may hold.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrician~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks including routing and connecting wiring to electrical or electronic systems, components, and/or equipment. I select the tools and equipment needed for electrical work. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- PHYSICAL EFFORT: The employee makes repairs from work stands and other hard-to-reach places. Must stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts items that weigh over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers.
- WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee works both inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather and in areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy. Subject to electric shock, cuts, and bruises. May be exposed to temperature extremes in test facilities, extremely high noise levels, and exposure to lead, radiation, chemicals, or carcinogens.
