SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements:
The following elements as defined in Civil Service Handbook are used:
- Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
- Knowledge of electrical equipment.
- Theory and instruments used in shop and trade practices .

- Ability to use and maintain hand tools.

Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Must be able to work unscheduled evening and weekend hours. Requires work inside and outside, in all kinds of weather. Work is in areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty and greasy. Work can be performed 30 feet above the floor, or more. Work can be in confined spaces. Work carries risk of electrical shock and burns, and entanglement in moving machinery parts. Work is near hazardous materials and chemicals. Incumbent will be required to walk climb, crawl ,kneel, stoop, bend, push and pull for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to distinguish color and shades of color for wire color codes. Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.
