Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Experience Requirements:
GS-07:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes meeting one of the following: 1) Provide construction input on drawings and/or specifications during design stages; 2) recommend changes to submittal registers, shop drawings, certifications, materials, etc. to ensure conformance with requirements such as: dimensions, tolerances, clearances, fits, finishes, and/or materials; 3) experience with government contracting process including pre-bid activities, modification process, and/or closeout activities; 4) prepare estimates and/or draft technical correspondence; and 5) process construction administration actions to close out construction projects within established time standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year (e.g., 18 Semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
GS-08:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes meeting two of the following: 1) Provide construction input on drawings and/or specifications during design stages; 2) recommend changes to submittal registers, shop drawings, certifications, materials, etc. to ensure conformance with requirements such as: dimensions, tolerances, clearances, fits, finishes, and/or materials; 3) experience with government contracting process including pre-bid activities, modification process, and/or closeout activities; 4) prepare estimates and/or draft technical correspondence; and 5) process construction administration actions to close out construction projects within established time standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: One and a half years (i.e., 27 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
GS-09:
Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience includes meeting three of the following: 1) Provide construction input on drawings and/or specifications during design stages; 2) recommend changes to submittal registers, shop drawings, certifications, materials, etc. to ensure conformance with requirements such as: dimensions, tolerances, clearances, fits, finishes, and/or materials; 3) experience with government contracting process including pre-bid activities, modification process, and/or closeout activities; 4) prepare estimates and/or draft technical correspondence; and 5) process construction administration actions to close out construction projects within established time standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Education: Two full years of graduate level education or a master's degree in Engineering, or related field of study. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
GS-10:
Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience includes meeting four of the following: 1) Provide construction input on drawings and/or specifications during design stages; 2) recommend changes to submittal registers, shop drawings, certifications, materials, etc. to ensure conformance with requirements such as: dimensions, tolerances, clearances, fits, finishes, and/or materials; 3) experience with government contracting process including pre-bid activities, modification process, and/or closeout activities; 4) prepare estimates and/or draft technical correspondence; and 5) process construction administration actions to close out construction projects within established time standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Successfully completed Two and a half years (i.e., 45 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 9. Add the two percentages.
