INTRODUCTION: The position is located within Marine Corps Base, Camp S. D. Butler, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Division, Logistics Branch, Facilities Maintenance Section (FMS), Quality Assurance Unit, Okinawa, Japan. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Facility Services Assistant (FSA) directly reports to the Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor and is responsible for the timely creation of maintenance service tickets and work order requests to provide rapid and effective maintenance and repair of MCCS' unique buildings, facilities, and equipment aboard all Marine Corps installations on Okinawa, Camp Fuji, and Camp Mujuk. The FSA is the initial customer service point of contact with MCCS facility managers and authorized callers for all facility-related issues regarding maintenance, repair, safety, and minor construction requirements. The FSA is assigned to a specific area of operations and is responsible for scheduling and coordinating regular facility housekeeping, maintenance, fire, and safety inspections. Schedules, conducts, and documents short-term and long-term facility inspections and takes appropriate action to promptly resolve issues per established policies and procedures. Records and reports all findings to the QA Supervisor and conducts follow-up inspections to confirm that all negative findings have been addressed as necessary. As part of this process, ensures that facility managers inspect and report all maintenance and safety issues in a timely manner. Documents unreported issues to the QA Supervisor and ensures appropriate actions are taken to correct problems and deficiencies. Creates, codes, reviews, records accounting information, and issues service tickets/work order requests via the web-based Total Maintenance Authority system (WebTMA) and the Enterprise Asset Management (Maximo) platforms. Assists with the compliance of policies mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Japan Environmental Governing Standards (JEGS). Establishes close working relationships with facility managers to resolve issues and potential incidents associated with equipment maintenance, facility maintenance, general housekeeping, and/or unsafe employee behavior. As required, requests the Facilities Engineering (FE) and/or Facilities Maintenance Office (FMO) conduct asbestos-containing material and lead-based paint sampling and testing in support of MCCS' capital project facilities improvement program and all building maintenance activities. Maintains asbestos-containing material and lead-based paint records and reports for each assigned facility.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 1. Experience, education, or training in creating and maintaining schedules for maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment. 2. Experience, education, or training with computer web-based facility asset management systems. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: 1. Experience in safety and occupational health concepts, principles, practices, procedures, techniques, standards, orders, and directives. 2. Experience in hazardous materials awareness such as asbestos, chemicals, and volatile/flammable substances. 3. Knowledge in Microsoft 365 Programs such as; Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software programs. 4. Ability to express oneself orally and in writing in a professional manner, to meet and speak with internal and external individuals and to compose written reports and materials clearly, concisely, and effectively. 5. A valid Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) operator's permit is required for the performance of duties for this position. Inability to obtain or maintain appropriate GOV licensing may result in termination for lack of qualifications. The incumbent is required to obtain required GOV licenses within 30 days of hire.
