Duties

Provides physical fitness training to authorized patrons to include Active Duty, Retirees, Family Members, and Department of Defense (DoD) Civilian employees.  Organizes and conducts physical fitness assessments to include screening and risk stratification, measurement and evaluation of an individual¿s aerobic capacity, body fat percentage, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, blood pressure, and interpretation of assessment results.  Provides individualized exercise plans.

Incumbent will work with populations deemed to be healthy, with no health risk factors, and who were not referred by a physician.

Provides instruction and consultation within the Semper Fit division, such as the HITT and F45 program, on proper exercise techniques.  Responsible for individual and/or groups instruction on fitness and implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive fitness program to improve aerobic fitness, muscular fitness, body composition and flexibility.  Will instruct patrons in proper use of exercise equipment while training and how to self-monitor progress either verbally or by composing written instructions for use of equipment, safety and well-being.  Coordinates with command representatives to develop and implement physical fitness programming for Active-Duty military personnel.

May be responsible for opening and/or closing of the facility, running the front desk, and securing cash drawer funds at the end of the day.  Front Desk duties include but not limited to entering data into RecTrac, registering patrons for classes, collecting fees, maintaining attendance records, and keeping track of resale inventory.  Will record customer transactions/sales with accuracy and within established guidelines.  Assists in cleaning the facility which includes re-racking weights, cleaning equipment, light janitorial work, and maintaining exercise equipment in proper working order.  May be asked to assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating of recreational activities for the program.

Incumbent will serve as a role model and team lead when area supervisor is not on site.  Relays instructions gets work started and sets the pace.  Will perform supervisory duties in an emergency, or short-term and nonrecurring basis.

Provides exceptional customer service by connecting with people in a meaningful way.  Upholds high service standards through respect, courtesy, professionalism, and teamwork.  Takes the initiative to solve problems quickly but recognizes when to seek assistance from supervisor to solve issues and or problems.  Collaborates in a professional, supportive, and proactive manner.

Adheres to safety regulations and standards.  Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.  Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.  One year of experience within the health/fitness industry is preferred.  Candidate must possess and maintain a basic level certification from a nationally accredited certifying organization.  A certification from one of the following associations is required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire

  • American Council on Exercise (ACE)
  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
  • National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM)
  • National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA)

Candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge of and skill to administer fitness assessments, progressive individual fitness plans and proper exercise techniques.  Knowledge of established exercise principles, concepts, and techniques to plan and conduct fitness testing, interpret results and develop fitness plans.  Candidate must possess a current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or obtain within 6 months of hire.
