Duties
- Performs a variety of routine manual tasks in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures. Prepares foods by sorting, washing, peeling, and cutting fresh fruit and vegetables.
- Sets up glasses, silverware, dishes, trays, napkins, condiments and cold menu items such as salads, desserts, breads, and cold beverages on a serving line or tables. Removes dishes and trays from tables after meals. Washes tables and counters.
- Operates, breaks down, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation. Cleans kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks and refrigerators. Separates foods waste and trash from dishes, glasses and silverware.
- Stores clean dishes, glasses and silverware. Vacuums and shampoos carpets; sweeps and mops kitchen floors. Cleans windows and washes walls. Cleans and sanitizes trash cans, disposes of trash. Loads and operates dishwashers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- A Medical Examination is required; subject to continuous standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching pushing, pulling and bending, lifting /moving items up to 20 pounds.
- Must be willing to accept varying and/or rotating shifts which include nights, weekends, holidays and events.
- The dual compensation guidelines DO NOT apply to this position. All GS and NAF employees whether full time or part time are eligible to apply for this position.
Qualifications
1. Ability to understand and follow oral instructions and do simple tasks that are easy to learn.
Skill and Knowledge:
- Must have knowledge of basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures.
- Must have the ability to perform routine manual tasks involving few steps, and be able to read and understand written material.
- Must have knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals.
