Duties
The
Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program (G&G CAP) was established to create
employment opportunities for Veterans, Gold Star families, and Active-Duty spouses
within the U.S. House of Representatives. These positions provide Aides with the experience and exposure
necessary to broaden their career opportunities. This position is assigned within a House Officer and will serve in
Washington, DC. These are
two-year, paid, full-time employment opportunities.
This position is located in the Office Supply Service (OSS)
and House Gift Shop (HGS) within the Office of Acquisitions Management (OAM),
under the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). The OSS/HGS team is
responsible for providing support to House Members and staff by ensuring the
consistent availability of office supplies necessary for the uninterrupted
execution of official duties. Additionally, the team oversees the operation of
the HGS, which serves as an important retail resource for Members, staff, and
visiting constituents seeking official gifts and memorabilia. The incumbent is
responsible for providing all customers with exceptional customer service.
Sales Specialists are the primary service providers and will assist customers
shopping in the stores in a friendly, professional, and proactive manner. This
position can be scheduled throughout both stores, based on the needs of the
business, including but not limited to cashier, sales floor support, or
delivery order support.
This job does not have day-to-day supervisory/managerial
responsibilities
Major duties:
- Deliver professional customer service and assistance to all House Members, staff, and the public
- Actively greet and assist customers both on the sales floor and behind the cash wrap
- Communicate clearly and effectively with customers and team members to resolve issues and ensure a positive shopping experience
- Responds to phone calls, emails, and in-person requests on a daily basis
- Conduct sales transactions accurately and in a polite manner
- Maintain product availability by regularly stocking and restocking the sales floor throughout the day
- Verify quantity of stock received in store to ensure inventory system accuracy
- Ensure adequate stock levels, visual merchandising, and accurate product labeling
- Assist with physical inventory counts and related tasks
- Maintains adequate knowledge of OSS/HGS products
- Maintains general working knowledge and understanding of CAO services, practices, and procedures
- Performs various clerical and administrative support activities as needed
- Provides general support on a variety of administrative and customer focused tasks, as well as other miscellaneous assignments and planning initiatives
Must be self-motivated and work independently as well as in coordination with various teams and time constraints
- Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned.

Veterans:
- Honorably
discharged;
- Released from
active duty within the last six years
- Pay grades at
or below E-5/O-3/W-2
- Veterans promoted
to the pay grades of E-6/O-4/W-3 WITHIN 6-MONTHS OF SEPARATION from active
duty may be eligible if they meet ALL other requirements.
- Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement Authority (TERA)
retirement are not eligible for the program.
Gold Star Families:
- A surviving spouse, child/step-child, parent/step-parent, or sibling/step-sibling of a veteran who died:
- In the line of duty while serving in the Armed Forces; or
- from a service-connected disability.
Active-Duty Spouses:
- Must be the spouse of an Active-Duty service member. Active-Duty service members work for the military full-time and are subject to permanent change of station or permanent change of assignment orders upon completion of each tour of duty.
- Those subject to Title X mobilization are not eligible

Qualifications
Experience and/or
Education Requirements:
Associate degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
Customer service experience preferred.
Qualifications:
Candidates will work with the Communications team to deliver
positive, empathetic and professional customer service experiences, and will understand
the role and importance of metrics and organizational change. Proficiency in
Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
Physical Requirements and
Work Environment:
This position is
in an office setting that is adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Normal
safety precautions apply. The work involves carrying light items such as books,
paper and small office equipment. The incumbent must be able to meet minimum
physical requirements (lifting, bending, crouching, standing, etc.). This
position is based on site and will have limited telework opportunities.
