Summary

This position is for a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, PD# D2431000, part of the Nevada Air National Guard. This position is located in the Air National Guard, Logistics Readiness Squadron, Vehicle Management Flight. Its purpose is to maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, modify, and inspect heavy mobile equipment, various support equipment, and special purpose vehicles.

--Repairs, adjusts, overhauls, and performs major maintenance on military and commercial heavy mobile equipment. Inspects and tests major systems, including various engine types, transmissions, hydraulic, electric, pneumatic systems, and controls. Utilizes equipment and specialized diagnostic tools for troubleshooting complex electric and electronic systems. Modifies parts, improvises solutions, and makes design adjustments to meet special requirements.
--Repairs and refinishes vehicle surfaces as required. Replaces body parts, locks, glass utilizing power tools, and specialized equipment. Tests, services, and repairs radiators/oil coolers, air conditioning systems, and replaces or repairs tires.
--Prepares and maintains maintenance work orders for man-hour and data collection. Assists in maintaining adequate shop stock, levels of parts, and shop support equipment. Researches and requisitions materials, parts, and equipment necessary for vehicle maintenance. Supports material control in maintaining and organization of parts and tool control.
--Conducts training classes on operation and maintenance procedures. Evaluates effectiveness of instruction and maintains training records.
--Assists in conducting the local occupational safety and health training program. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and Air Force Occupational, Safety, and Health Standards. Manages proper disposal of hazardous waste products within the functional area. Performs other duties as assigned.
