Summary

The Home Telehealth Clinical Technician is a vital role within the Home Telehealth Program as they may be the first to contact patients and families, as well as offering a general overview of the program.

Assisting with patient enrollments, disenrollment, non-responder activities and documenting as appropriate Entering data and tracking supplies and patient equipment Preparing data reports and other miscellaneous reports as assigned Other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/25/2024.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
  • Specialized Experience:
  • You must have two years of direct patient care experience of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience must include experience:
  • 1) assessing ambulatory patients and recognizing life threatening situations.
  • 2) assisting with potentially life threatening procedures such as defibrillation, cardioversion, and initiation of mechanical ventilation.
  • 3) operating specialized medical equipment.
  • 4) performing dressing changes, wound management, suture removal, repair of simple lacerations, and Foley catheter insertion.
  • 5) setting up equipment and instruments for examinations and procedures.
  • 6) conducting training in CPR, basic, and advanced medical care techniques.
  • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have one full year of graduate education. A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.
Preferred: CLS and ACLS training prior to beginning work in the Emergency Department; Healthcare experience in the last 2-5 years; Strong customer service skills; Experience as a military medic is strongly preferred. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work of the Health Technician may involves extended recurring bending, lifting, stooping and, stretching, and positioning of patients.

Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
