Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a High Voltage Electrician without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common High Voltage Electrician duties including servicing street lights systems; Installing electrical service in buildings; Running new lines to repair existing electrical systems; Replacing defective wiring, receptacles and switches; and conforming to electrical codes and manufacturers' specifications when splicing and terminating cables. I can operate lineman trucks, install electrical service in buildings, and inspect and repair high voltage transformers. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Selective Placement Factor: This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state issued commercial driver's license (Class A or B with airbrake endorsement). NOTE: You must upload a copy of your commercial driver's license to your application (Class A or B with airbrake endorsement) to your application package or you will be rated in-eligible.
Physical Effort: This position requires Work requires being aloft on poles, at ground level, and in ground trenches. Work requires bending, stooping, climbing, and standing for long periods. Handles objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally weighing in excess of 40 pounds.
Working Conditions: This position requires work outside most of the time, subject to extreme of weather conditions and in close proximity to high voltage lines and equipment. Work requires extensive pole climbing with some work in underground facilities. Subject to injury by contact with voltage lines, broken bones in falls from poles and strains from awkward positions and pulling lines.
