Duties
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will perform the following duties:
- Supports the processes of receiving and evaluating hotline complaints from various sources both internal and external to the organization. Obtains and records specific detailed information relating to each complaint.
- Assists with disseminating referral documents for consideration by the EPA OIG’s investigative, audit, and evaluation units; program offices at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board; and other government agencies at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Prepares reports and other written material based on extensive research and/or knowledge of technical publications, information systems, directives, rules, regulations, and the policies, procedures, and files of the OIG.

This is a Public Trust Position. Employment in this position requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation. Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
To qualify, you must have one of the following:
- 1 year or 52 weeks of full-time Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level defined as conducting research and analysis using a wide range of methods and techniques to evaluate work arising from allegations or suggestions; conducting interviews to elicit relevant information and representing the Agency’s services and point of view in meetings with Agency officials, staff, and leadership; and preparing clear, concise, and effective written materials to document and refer complaints and suggestions
or
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
- 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
