Summary

Candidate is responsible for the electronic compilation and organization of the daily Congressional Record transcipt for transmission to the Government Printing Office (GPO) by applying specific formatting requirements related to the transcription process using various software platforms. Candidate works with the Senior Legislative Specialist team in processing Members of Congress Extensions of Remarks, General Leave statements, and Personal Explanation statements.

Duties

The Office of the Clerk for the U.S. House of Representatives is seeking a dynamic and customer focused Human Resources Generalist to join our team. This position is located in the Human Resources Immediate Office, Office of Human Resources (HR), Office of the Clerk (Clerk), U.S. House of Representatives (House). The HR Immediate Office is responsible for providing strategic human capital guidance, and an array of human resource programs to Clerk employees and applicants.

Qualifications

The Human Resources Generalist will assist with recruitment, new employee orientations and other development programs, as well as prepare personnel and payroll actions, and manage annual leave records certification and audits. Incumbent must perform data entry and master personnel database and performance management systems. Candidate must possess the ability to utilize computerized and non-computerized resources for the maintenance, research, and retrieval of personnel files and records.

Considerable knowledge of specialized principles and practices of personnel administration, compensation, benefits, and employee relations. Detailed knowledge of the legislative process and the ability to plan, coordinate, and evaluate short and long-term projects and programs. The ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at timely decisions is critical. The ability to write and speak effectively, establish and maintain good working relationships with congressional staff, officials at all levels, and the public is essential. A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
