Specialized Experience for the GS-1316-05: 1) Work as a technician or aid in engineering, earth, physical, or natural science, forestry, soil conservation, or surveying; trades or crafts work in maintenance or construction of facilities or equipment related to hydrology; drafting; AND/OR 2) construction estimating if it equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Successful completion of a full four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with (a) major study in an appropriate field of science, engineering, construction, or industrial technology, or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, industrial technology, construction drafting, surveying, physical science, biology, or mathematics

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Specialized Experience for the GS-1316-06: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting with a variety of duties involving installation, reading, and maintenance of all gauges assigned to area. 2) Assisting with hydrologic investigations relating to various navigation, hydropower and flood projects. 3) Assisting with the installation of electronic hydrologic equipment and performs tests of instruments and equipment for accuracy of data being collected. AND/OR 4) Assisting with performing minor maintenance and repairs on equipment to insure collection of acceptable data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as engineering, industrial technology, construction drafting, surveying, physical science, biology, or mathematics.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Specialized Experience for the GS-1316-07: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1.) Assist with the installation and maintenance of hydrologic equipment to improve or augment existing instrumentation; 2) Assist in performing routine maintenance, repairs, and adjustments to hydrologic instruments and gauges; 3) Maintain inventory controls and audit trails to precent loss, waste, fraud and abuse of resources. 4) monitor hydrologic data collection systems to ensure performance and identify deficiency; AND/OR 5.) Creates and maintains relationships with local, federal and state agencies to exchange rainfall data and coordinate stream gaging. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
