Summary

This position is within the Missile Defense Agency, Technical Intelligence Directorate. The incumbent will serve as an Intelligence Operations Specialist providing support to MDA Program Elements and Supporting Offices.

Duties

As an INTELLIGENCE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST at the GG-0132-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serve as an Intelligence Watch Officer Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting 24/7 operations for the Missile Defense Agency Intelligence Requirements Division, Intelligence Watch Center, based at the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center (MDIOC) at Schriever SFB, CO.
  • Monitor Intelligence Community reporting on ongoing missile activity, space activity, missile system development, missile system proliferation and worldwide political developments that could impact agency personnel or assets or affect the agency employment and development of the Missile Defense System. Coordinate, brief, and collaborate with the Missile Defense System Watch Officer, C2BMC Watch Officer, MDA program elements, and MDA Leadership.
  • Respond to time critical, quick turnaround requirements and requests for information from MDA leadership and external customers by serving as agency intelligence interface to JFCC IMD J2, the 100th Missile Defense Brigade, the 49th Missile Defense Battalion (at Fort Greely), the NORAD/NORTHCOM J2 and the other Combatant Command (COCOM) J2s, and the Intelligence Community.
  • Provide intelligence support to all Missile Defense System Elements, MDA staff, MDIOC offices, partner agencies, and other missile defense entities, as required.
  • Collaborate with Intelligence Community partners, including DEFSMAC, DIA, NASIC, MSIC, ONI and NGA, on a continuous basis to develop and maintain current, comprehensive global ballistic missile and cruise missile threat perspective for MDA leadership.
  • Prepare, edit, and publish the Daily Intelligence Briefing, Executive Daily Intelligence Summary (EDIS) articles, TS/SCI and SECRET-level Read Books, intelligence input to the Missile Defense System Weekly Update and other products as required.
  • Support MDA leadership, MDA Program Elements, and operational nodes with critical time-sensitive intelligence on worldwide missile developments that could affect the development or execution of the Missile Defense System and/or lead to a Readiness Condition (REDCON) change or Missile Defense System asset readiness change.
  • Provide intelligence support to MDA flight test events, exercises and wargames as required.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of foreign ballistic missile systems, cruise missile systems and space systems. Utilize classified and open source automated equipment to research, prepare and disseminate a wide variety of intelligence products.
  • Brief flag-level military and SES civilian personnel on a regular basis on short notice.
  • THIS POSITION REQUIRES SHIFT WORK IN A 24X7 WATCH CENTER, ROTATING BETWEEN DAYS AND NIGHTS AND WORK ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GG-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level meeting 3 of the 4 following statements:
  • Experience as an intelligence analyst or intelligence watch officer in an Intelligence Community agency or Department of Defense.
  • Experience as an intelligence officer or intelligence analyst with knowledge of foreign ballistic and cruise missile systems, space systems, Indications and Warning, intelligence operations and collection.
  • Experience in researching and monitoring current intelligence reporting from the Intelligence Community and collating this with finished intelligence products and references to produce recurring intelligence reports and briefings.
  • Experience in researching and monitoring Intelligence Community reporting to produce one-time products to answer time-sensitive Requests for Information from senior leadership and external customers.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
