Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers helps manage water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas.
Duties
- Performs lead environmental planner duties for projects with emphasis upon natural ecological systems and human environmental relationships.
- Leads or performs environmental evaluations, environmental assessments, and prepares environmental impact evaluations required by law (i.e. NEPA or CWA and related) for potential flood control and multipurpose water resource projects.
- Prepares and/or assists others in the district in preparation of environmental impact statements.
- Reviews and provides input on environmental aspects of planning and design reports.
- Determines environmental requirements and procedures for District activities.
- Recommends environmental alternatives during planning activities.
- Participates in the development, preparation, and monitoring of contracts for environmental data, impact analysis, and related studies.
- Performs studies and research related to various basic environmental conditions, such as ecological inventories, pre-impoundment and post-impoundment monitoring.
