Duties

  • You will conduct screenings, assessments, and treatment referrals to evaluate the specific level of treatment of the patient.
  • You will develop short-term solution to focus on the psychological and counseling needs of the clients in crisis situations.
  • You will devise a workable treatment plan (e.g., individual counseling, family counseling, referral for in client treatment) to provide required treatment.

  • The incumbent must meet the qualification requirements for Tier II clinical providers described in SECNAVINST 1754.8, “Credentials Review and Clinical Privileging of Clinical Providers within Department of the Navy Family Readiness Program”.
  • This position is designated as Non-Critical Sensitive. Incumbents must obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for Secret security clearance of access for the duration of employment, including a background investigation and credit check.
  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age of 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so, and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records.
  • This position requires routine on-site access to government facilities. The incumbent may perform the required tasks at an off-site location for situational telework only.
  • This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately up to 20% of time away from the regular duty station to attend or provide training, conduct FFSP certification visits, or deliver services aboard ships.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have a valid, state-issued driver’s license.
  • The position may require working flexible hours, such as 0700-1500 or 0900-1800 to accommodate client’s needs to have after hour care, including weekend hours. The incumbent will be required to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing social/human services in accordance with state, federal and municipal human service laws, programs, polices and directives; 2) Counseling and interviewing clients to identify concerns and determine appropriate referral service/options; 3) Working with community social service delivery systems; 4) Applying organizational and management techniques to direct complex social services programs; 5) Conducting domestic abuse (child and spouse) assessments and complete documentation for multidisciplinary (medical, legal, community agencies); 6) Ensuring compliance with federal and state laws governing mandated reporting of child and spouse abuse; 7) Maintaining case records, treatment plans, and statistics in accordance with state policy in order to ensure proper treatment and follow-up is provided. Education

In order to meet the qualification requirements for Tier II clinical providers described in SECNAVINST 1754.8, the following education requirements must be met:

  • Master's degree from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs.
  • Master's degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education.
  • Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school of Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school AND a 1-year APA accredited clinical internship.

In order to meet the qualification requirements for Tier II clinical providers described in SECNAVINST 1754.8, a qualified candidate must possess the following licensure/certification by a state or U.S. territory that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner in the fields of:
  • Licensed Professional Counseling
  • Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Clinical Social Work
  • Clinical Psychology
  • Counseling Psychology

Applicants must meet the following basic education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:
Successful completion of a behavioral or social science degree
OR
a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled

a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field OR
four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
