To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying.
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Minimum Qualification requirements as listed below:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies
A. Attention to Detail: Ensuring IT programs are in compliance with cybersecurity policies and/or standards
B. Customer Service: Interpreting IT security guidelines or policies to meet customer needs
C. Oral Communication: Communicating organizational security policies and procedures to stakeholders
D. Problem Solving: Providing solutions to cybersecurity issues to meet short and long-term goals.
IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS ABOVE, YOU MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting base salary $84,601.00) if you possess one of the following:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level performing duties such as:
- Provide technical direction in local area network (LAN);
- Research and test new end user computing devices and software; apply proper security practices, procedures, and techniques (e.g., firewalls, intrusion and detection, etc.) to ensure the security posture of the network;
- Operate and maintain servers and local area networks along with an understanding of metropolitan area networks and wide area networks.
OR
- A bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. OR
- One full year of graduate level education at an accredited or pre-accredited college or university;
OR
- A combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. This will be calculated using your résumé and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.
You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting base salary $101,401.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as:
- Integrate security protocols and risk management considerations throughout the IT system life cycle; including planning, design, development, test, and integration;
- Collect and interpret network traffic patterns to ensure network availability and quality of service;
- Perform diagnostic routines on networked equipment using state-of-the-art data analyzers, software, or other test equipment to troubleshoot network failures and
- Provides server administration and management procedures and guidelines for the operation and management of the local area network servers.
Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current competitive service employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50, "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). You may need to submit more than one SF-50 to comply.
