Summary

This position is being filled under DoD Modified Direct Hire Authority, Section 1109; PL, 116-92, dated 12/20/2019 .

This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Serves as an Information Technology Specialist (IT) (Al Requirements Analyst) and provides Al strategy and acquisition guidance to govern Department of Defense (DoD) Al activities for enhancement, modernization, and transformation within the Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) construct.

As a IT SPECIALIST (APPSW/SYSANALYSIS) at the GG-2210-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Provides staff assistance for integrating requirements within DoD and JS business processes.
  • Responsible for the development of new or modified practices, objectives, regulations, or goals to support requirements management, acquisition reform and transformation within a data centric.
  • Performs assigned special projects and conducts studies and analyses involving problems as directed by JS leadership, e.g., matters which involve urgency, security, and unusual circumstances, often requiring coordination with appropriate JS offices.
  • Develops facts; coordinates with personnel of other DoD and Government Agencies; documents options/alternatives/recommendations for resolution to problems; and approval of action papers.
  • Special projects address new developments to problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted methods or makes decisions or recommendations significantly changing, interpreting, or developing important policies and programs.
  • Determines areas in which AI/ML would be beneficial and presents recommendations to JS leadership.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GG -14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Serves as team lead/technical authority in analyzing developments and new applications of IT (hardware, software, telecommunications), emerging technologies and their applications to business processes, and applications and implementation of information systems to meet organizational requirements.
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML), Data Science/data architecture/analysis/engineering, computer aided manufacturing (CAM), DevSecOps, and Cloud computing.
  • Identifies and analyzes problems; uses sound reasoning to arrive at conclusions; finds alternative solutions to complex problems; distinguishes between relevant and irrelevant information to make logical judgements.
  • Participates in or conducts special conferences, writes correspondence, prepares technical and analytical reports, and briefing aides which are easily understood by both technical and customer proponents.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
