Job Description (Please follow all instructions carefully)

Summary

Serves as administrator for End User Computing (EUC) management and operations in the Office of Regional program and Integrity Reviews responsible for managing the Office of Assessment (OA) automated data processing (ADP) equipment/systems in the region and for providing technical advice and assistance to staff and management.


Duties

  • Serves as administrator for End User Computing (EUC) management and operations in the regional Field Assessment Office (FAO).
  • Responsible for managing the Office of Assessment (OA) automated data processing (ADP) equipment/systems in the region and for providing technical advice and assistance to staff and management in the FAO in the use of the ADP systems.
  • Serves as FAO expert and liaison in dealing with central office staff regarding data systems.
  • Manages all FAO ADP resources and data systems. (Critical Element) Designs and implements procedures to safeguard essential data and to reduce the risk of systems down time.
  • Serves as the RO focal point and develops and maintains full documentation of all automated processes and related procedures.
  • Monitors to ensure required systems security safeguards are implemented and that uses of the system comply with SSA regulations.
  • Analyzes a wide variety of management and operations reports.
  • Serves as technical expert and conducts surveys of FAO systems ¬related operations to identify trends, specific problems, inefficient processes, and other issues of concern in the region.
  • Develops and recommends ways to solve problems, increase efficiency, or otherwise improve performance.
  • Participates in planning for changes in OA automated systems at the national, regional, and local level.
  • Analyzes proposed new procedures for their impact on systems related operations and workflow.
  • Develops and evaluates the merits of alternative workflow, location, organizational arrangement, administrative support systems, and management policies.
  • Assists with the Implementation and monitoring of new processes. Works with personnel in other RD's and integrates the ADP systems activities with all RD components.
  • Initiates, develops, and completes or monitors accomplishment of a regional FAO ADP Plan.
  • Performs periodic reviews of management information and other processes to see if data user needs are being met and if the procedures can be made more efficient.
  • Analyzes placement and usage of the equipment and recommends changes to obtain maximum benefit from the system.
  • Explores computer hardware expansion and equipment acquisition as necessary and is responsible for the coordination and scheduling of all hardware maintenance and repair.
  • Assists FAD and Regional Office (RD) operating and staff personnel In the use of FAD ADP equipment/systems.
  • Advises FAD management and analysts on the potentials of the automated systems and recommends structuring of studies and analyses so that full use is made of the capacities of the system.
  • Provides training and technical assistance to FAD staff on the use of ADP equipment/systems and in the development of microcomputer-based applications software.

To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must have one of the following:


The applicant must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-9, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled which has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience must include knowledge of the Windows 10 operating system, Microsoft office applications, and mainframe applications. It should also include experience resetting mainframe passwords, troubleshooting hardware issues, supporting quality assurance software, and issuing personal identity verification credentials.
OR
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR have completed 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Your educational degree must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Note: Transcripts are required to substantiate education.


GS-12
To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must have one of the following:
