Summary

This position is located in the e-Discovery Group, Legal Information Technology Unit in the Legal Division and provides support on matters related to all forms of litigation.

Duties

  • Coordinates eDiscovery efforts among litigation teams, outside counsel, FDIC IT personnel and other agency stakeholders.
  • Provides technical advice in the development, enhancement, and maintenance of eDiscovery support systems (whether on-premises or cloud-based) and related hardware of significance to the storage and recovery of electronically stored information.
  • Analyzes and makes recommendations regarding plans for the development, issuance, and implementation of policies that direct the course of eDiscovery litigation support across organizational lines.
  • Implements determined necessary upgrades and improvements to existing eDiscovery applications.
  • Provides guidance and collaborates with outside litigation support consultants retained to provide technical services to FDIC attorneys during investigations, discovery, trial and regulatory enforcement proceedings.
  • Participates in various aspects of contracting, including the development of selection factors for litigation support contracts, cost/benefit analyses for use in evaluating competitive bids, task order development, and performance-based contracting.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here.
To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in applying and administering automated litigation support technology, including Microsoft Purview Premium and others (e.g., Veritas eDiscovery Platform (Clearwell), and Relativity) through the stages of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM); coordinating litigation support services or projects for eDiscovery requests; and providing technical advice in the development, enhancement, and maintenance of eDiscovery support systems.

  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
