Summary

Duties

  1. Plans and executes the development of graphic art designs and presentations in multiple media promoting the 374th Force Support Squadron's programs, activities, and events.
  2. Closely involved in the design and creation of logos, visual aids, photographs, diagrams, typography, banners, graphs, charts, illustrations, transparencies, posters, brochures, manuals, pamphlets, calendars, electronic images, magazines, flyers, signs, menus, maps, newsletters, newspapers, supplements, and other decorative artwork.
  3. With an emphasis on promoting participation and relaying information, creates artwork from concept to preliminary layout design using a variety of artistic techniques and methods.
  4. Provides customer service support and acts as an FSS representative at all major FSS/all base wide events and provides constructive marketing feedback to the activity manager.
  5. Designs, produces, and executes computer-generated visual materials, and uses freehand and graphic design software as well as other related hardware and software as required for the effective marketing and publicizing of squadron programs and facilities.
  6. Provides or arranges for photographic support for base/FSS events.
  7. Responsible for professionally presented information with optimal visual impact; and for current, accurate, and factual information relating to the organizational mission.
  8. To this end, researches sources to ensure all designs are suitable for information and events advertised; checks publicity for accuracy and appropriate content.
  9. Offers suggestions so that the best form of visual media is used to publicize; determines format and color treatment, specifications, deadlines, and methods of reproduction.
  10. Collaborates with subject matter experts and may visit activities to aid in the design process and to evaluate and/or implement new publicity media and products to further publicize activity-specific programs.
  11. Maintains files (electronic and hardcopy) and operational integrity of workstations, network, and peripherals.
  12. Also maintains current knowledge of information applicable to core duties, graphic design issues, and graphic standards.
  13. Tracks utilization and supply levels of expendable items.
  14. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
  1. Must have specialized technical experience which demonstrates a working knowledge of graphic design and layout using computer graphic software (Adobe Suite of products or equivalent).
  2. Demonstrated freehand drawing skill is desired but not required.
  3. Must have ability to prioritize commitments, policies, and program goals of the organization sufficient to independently perform non-routine assignments with only minimal supervision.
  4. Must possess general clerical skills and have knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  5. Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  6. Experience using industry standard programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher), and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, lnDesign, Acrobat Pro) are highly desirable.
  7. Related education may substitute for experience.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
